Overview
LovyDays is a relationship companion app that helps couples keep track of shared days, memories, streaks, reminders, widgets, quick touch interactions, a 7-Day Recap, shared memories, Couple Challenge questions, and a virtual "Journey to You" between the two partners' shared locations. This Privacy Policy explains what information LovyDays accesses, collects, uses, stores, and shares. There is no account or sign-up; the app never asks for your email, phone number, or a password.
Information We Collect or Store
LovyDays may collect or store the following information when you use the app:
- Anonymous Firebase Authentication identifiers used to connect two devices as a couple.
- A sign-in credential the app generates for itself (a random address and password you never see or type) so the same identifier can be restored if you reinstall the app. It is stored in Google Play Services Block Store, which includes it in your device's end-to-end encrypted Google backup only when that encryption is available, and otherwise keeps it on the device and in device-to-device transfers. It contains no personal information.
- Little Notes you send your partner: the text you typed, or the audio file of a voice note you recorded, together with the emoji the note was sent with, whether it has been opened, and your partner's reaction. Voice recordings are stored in Google Cloud Storage and can only be read by the two paired devices.
- LovyDays Plus subscription status: which plan was bought, when it expires, and whether it renews, so that both partners receive the Plus features. Purchases are processed by Google Play. The app never receives your card number, billing address, or any other payment details.
- Couple pairing data, including couple IDs, member IDs, pairing tokens, token status, timestamps, relationship start dates, the date you paired, and your couple's time zone.
- Couple profile data synced between the two paired devices: the display names you both chose and, if you set one, a small copy of your avatar image.
- Streak and activity data, including daily activity status, quick touch events, touch types, timestamps, receipt status, and the 7-Day Recap summary built from those touches.
- Shared memories, while you are paired: the title, note, date, and photos of memories you add, reactions to them, and whether your partner has seen them. Photos are re-encoded as JPEG on your device with their metadata (such as location and camera details) removed, then stored in Cloud Storage for Firebase. A memory is shared with your partner when you add it; you can switch it to "Only me", which keeps it in the couple room but readable only by you.
- Couple Challenge data: the questions you chose and the answers both partners entered.
- Location data for Journey to You (optional): when you tap "Share my location", the app reads your device location once, at that moment, and stores that position (latitude, longitude, accuracy, and time) in your couple room so your partner can see how far apart you are. Location is not read in the background. While a virtual Journey runs, a journey record holding the two shared positions, the chosen ride, and its progress is stored in the couple room. If your partner asks you to share your location, that request is kept there until you share or one of you leaves the room.
- A device record for notifications: a push token with the platform, app version, language, time zone, and your notification preferences, keyed to your anonymous identifier.
- Local memory information stored only on your device: memories you create while not paired and the copies you choose to keep when a couple room ends, including their titles, descriptions, dates, and media attachments. Such a memory leaves your device only if you choose to share it into a couple room.
- App analytics events that help us understand feature usage and improve the app. Journey distances are reported only as broad bands, never as coordinates.
- Crash reports and diagnostics that help us detect and fix app stability issues.
The Couple Cat animation on the Home screen is purely visual and stores nothing about you.
Location, Camera, Microphone, Photos, and Notifications
LovyDays may request approximate or precise location permission, used only in the foreground and only when you tap "Share my location" for Journey to You. The app does not request background location and does not track your movement; a Journey is an animation on a map, not real travel. The app works without this permission.
LovyDays may request microphone access so you can record a voice little note. The microphone is used only while you are recording, and only from the moment you tap the record button; the app never listens in the background and has no recording service. The permission is optional — a little note can be typed instead, and every other feature works without it.
LovyDays may request camera access to scan QR codes for couple pairing. Camera data is used for that feature and is not used for advertising. If you add memory photos or avatars, the app may access files that you select so the app can display them, save them locally, or upload them to your couple room as described above. The "Share this moment" card at the end of a Journey and the 7-Day Recap image are created on your device and saved to your gallery only when you choose to save them. LovyDays may request notification permission to send relationship reminders, streak reminders, quick touch notifications, new memories and reactions from your partner, "On This Day" memories, "your Journey is ready" notices, and a reminder your partner can send you to share your location.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide app features such as couple pairing, streaks and the 7-Day Recap, quick touches, Couple Challenge, Journey to You, widgets, reminders, and memories.
- Sync selected couple-related data, including shared memories, between paired devices.
- Restore your identifier, and with it your couple room, if you reinstall the app.
- Draw the Journey route: for road rides we send the two shared positions, reduced to roughly 100 m precision, to the Google Routes API to obtain a road path. The result is cached for up to 30 days with no link to who requested it. Flying rides use a straight line and make no routing request.
- Maintain app security, prevent invalid pairing, and keep relationship data scoped to paired devices.
- Analyze app usage and improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Investigate crashes, errors, and technical problems.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not show third-party advertising. Couple-related data, including shared locations and shared memories, may be shared only between the two paired devices that belong to the same couple. We use Firebase services provided by Google, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage for Firebase, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics, to provide authentication, cloud sync, photo storage for shared memories, notifications, analytics, and crash reporting. We use Google Play Services Block Store to keep the sign-in credential described above. We use Google Maps Platform (Maps SDK for Android and the Routes API) to display the Journey map and compute road routes. These providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies; see policies.google.com/privacy.
Data Security
We use Firebase and Android platform security features to help protect data in transit and at rest. Firestore data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by security rules so that only the two paired devices in a couple room can read it. Memory photos have no public link: each one can be read only by the people allowed to see that memory. Memories and Journey records are written only by our server code. Local app data is stored in the app's private storage where supported by the Android operating system. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention and Deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Your shared location remains in the couple room until you tap "Stop sharing" on the Home card or leave the couple room; either action removes it. A finished Journey record is deleted automatically about 24 hours after it completes. When you delete a shared memory, it disappears from the couple room at once and its photos are removed from storage right after, or at the latest by the next daily cleanup. When a couple room ends, its memories stay readable to the two former partners for 30 days so each can keep a copy on their device; after that the memories and their photos are deleted from Firebase. Pairing invitations expire after 72 hours and are purged automatically. A little note that the receiver keeps becomes a memory and from then on follows the rule for memories above, including the 30-day window after a couple room ends. A little note that is not kept, and its voice recording, currently remain in the couple room until you ask us to delete them: they are not removed automatically, and not when a couple room ends. Cloud data used for pairing, profiles, streaks, quick touches, the 7-Day Recap, and Couple Challenge remains in Firebase, so that your couple room can be restored if you reinstall the app, unless it is deleted as part of a data deletion request. From Manage Relationship you can disconnect from your partner at any time.
To request deletion of cloud data associated with your LovyDays use, contact us at support@lovydays.com. We may need information that helps us identify the relevant couple or device record, such as the relationship start date, before deletion can be completed.
Children's Privacy
LovyDays is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us so we can review and delete the relevant data where appropriate.
International Users
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence, including locations where Firebase and Google service providers operate.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above. This version reflects LovyDays 1.8.1, which added shared memories and the 7-Day Recap. Your continued use of LovyDays after an updated Privacy Policy is posted means you accept the updated policy.
